Get your class using more Gaeilge while they play! This resource is packed with useful phrases for teaching and encouraging the language children need when playing games.

It is perfect for helping children move away from automatically using English during games and giving them the Gaeilge they need to join in, take turns, give instructions and react naturally as they play.

How I use it

I like to choose 2–3 speech bubbles at a time and challenge the children to use those phrases while playing their Gaeilge games. Once those become familiar, swap them out for a few new ones!

The phrases can also be brought into other parts of the school day, including PE, Maths games, SESE, pair work and group activities, helping children use their Gaeilge outside of the Irish lesson too.

The large speech bubbles are ideal for printing onto coloured card and displaying around the classroom, while the three reference sheets can be kept beside your desk for quick access.

A really handy resource to have on display all year and an easy way to encourage more natural Gaeilge throughout the school day!
