Looking for some ideas to help get through the last month of term…?
1. Sandcastle Art – Have a go at these painted sandcastle pieces. If you live near the coast or have a sandbox, you could collect some real sand and glue it to the art using PVA!

2. A letter to my future self… Ask your students to write a letter to themselves in 10 years. You could use some of these points as a stimulus:
- Include a short summary of how you spend a typical Tuesday.
- Include information on your likes and dislikes, naming at least three favourites (food, music, films etc)
- Summary of your time in school this year, what you learned and what you accomplished.
- Where do you think you will be in ten years’ time. What will you be doing? Where will you be living? What will your average day look like?
3. Ditch the formal written homework for the month of June – for your students AND for you! The weather is getting nicer, the children are getting more tired and you need a break from morning corrections! You can download a FREE June Homework Alternative resource at the bottom of this blog post.
4. Revise some of the writing genres you have looked at during the year. You can find summer themed activities on the website. I’ve added them into a pack of Summer activities. Click the icon below to see them on my website!

5. Start organising your resources from the year and get the students to help you! Throw out any duplicates – trust me on that one and grab some clear folders for storing your favourite worksheets and visual aids.
6. Break up the day with some summer themed focus tasks. You can display these up on the Interactive Whiteboard or print them out on to colourful card to pass around the room.

7. Try some of these summer-themed art lessons that I have saved from Instagram. You can see the teacher’s Instagram handle at the top of each photo!

8. Relax! If you are anything like me in June – you’re tired, your students are tired and everybody is ready for a break! Minimise the amount of written work in your day and go with the flow. If it’s mild weather outside, take your class out to the grass to read a book or play a game of rounders! You have all worked hard all year – enjoy the last few weeks together!
Hope these tips were helpful! Claire
