A bit of a life update…this school year is actually going to look a little different for me as I’m making a change and taking a career break. I really do love teaching and am also lucky to work in a brilliant school with incredible friends and colleagues, so it’s definitely a bit of a strange August for me. I started Class of Creativity in 2014 when I worked in my first school and honestly never thought I’d still be tipping away at it nearly 9 years later. I’ve shared that I’ve been job sharing in my school and working on Class of Creativity simultaneously for the last few years, and with two jobs on the go, I’ve now reached the stage where I have a niggly feeling that I could be doing so much more if I had the time and headspace for it.
So, I am taking a chance and going full-time on Class of Creativity for the next year (and maybe hoping to do a bit of travelling to make the most of my career break too!) I adore making resources for my own classroom and get such a buzz from seeing other teachers use them in their rooms. I can’t wait to have more time to create the long list of resources on the “maybe when I get time” list. I’ll still be sharing my favourite teaching tips and ideas, and don’t think I’ll ever run out of photos as there are currently around thirty-two thousand pictures on my phone!
I just wanted to take a moment to thank any of you that have ever liked a post, written me a message, responded to an email, showed me a picture of one of my ideas in your own classroom or bought one of my resources. There’s no way I’d have the chance to try this full-time if it wasn’t for you and my amazing and supportive friends and family (who are almost like Class of Creativity guinea pigs and consultants at this stage). So whatever your back to school looks like this year – have a great one and look after yourself. I know I’m so excited to see what the next year holds! Claire X ❤️
