You can see some tips for each game below:
🍎Multiplication Circles – great for 3rd upwards. Students will begin to strategise once they get used to the game (maybe filling the trickier number multiples first etc). You can also play with two different numbers in each circle to make it trickier for each group (no peeking at the other team’s circle!)
🍎Stand up, Sit Down – have the students who are knocked out to stand in a line at the top of the room and call out the sums. It’s a good idea for every child to hold a mini whiteboard to complete their sums in the senior end. Students waiting in line can be double-checking their trickier sums.
🍎Addition / Subtraction Bingo – can use this in any age group and vary the difficulty. I often used it when learning new tables in 3rd. Each child wrote either a multiple or sum in each box (e.g. 3 x 4 = , 8, 4 x 4). You call out the multiple of the table you are learning and they cross off as they go.
🍎Musical Clocks – you will have to check everyone’s answer against their clock but you can get students who are knocked out to help check after each round. Change every clock before the final to make it harder!
🍎Dropdown 10 – great for all senior classrooms.
Hop, skip, jump – keep in mind this game can be adapted for lots of subjects!
Let me know if you try any of these games in your classroom for maths week 2022, or tag a teacher friend who is looking for some more fun games!
